For those that are interested in why I made this site.
Through the course of time, I had collected many snippets of useful code, but had no real way to know what was in the snippet without putting them on a page and testing to see what the snippet is. Then, many years ago, on a boring day, I decided to make a web site of all my snippets. The site was located at a sub domain, with no SEO, being I never expected anyone other than myself to use the site. But people started surfing my site and downloading the snippets. I then decided to add snippets for all versions of WebPlus, with the X2-X4-X5 snippets being basically universal for all users who can add html snippets into their projects.
Being all the visitors I was receiving, I then categorized the snippets and added a search and download function for easier navigation to the ever growing catalogue of snippets. Visitors kept growing so I made two top level websites. JohnnyAdds.ca, and JohnnyAdds.com. Both are identical to each other, but I was curious to which one would be more popular. JohnnyAdds.ca has won the top spot in that race.
At one point I thought about playing the advertising game, but being I personally hate all the extra clicks to get to the download your interested in, so advertising was put on hold. I feel comfortable with the expense of “Sitelock” malware prevention, and also a SSL certificate from “Sectigo” to keep my visitors and downloads virus free. My final decision was to keep JohnnyAdds a free, no adverting site, where visitors can relax and surf the many addons without annoying popups or ads.
With the addition of all the adds in a single download, the downloads grew even more. Now with the “JohnnyAdds Browser”, my monthly traffic is far more than I could have ever expected from a personal web site. My hope is these addons can help others create a more appealing web site with as minimal of design work as possible. I have tried to make the addons as user friendly out of the box as I can for easy adding to any site.
This new site, which is the forth incantation of JohnnyAdds, is more retro of what I think was a better time with creative web sites that burst with color and imagination.
